Haven Hall, a spectacular Country House built in 1908 and lavishly restored, is situated on top of the cliffs with stunning panoramic sea views over 2 acres of landscaped flower gardens (which Alan Titchmarsh recently awarded ‘Best Commercial Garden’), with a heated swimming pool, croquet lawn and grass tennis court. The lovely modernised period decor with air-conditioning and high speed wifi in every room, has been awarded 5 Star Gold by the AA and Visit England for its attention to detail. Within easy walking distance of the thatched village of old Shanklin, sandy beaches and lots of friendly pubs, cafes, shops and tearooms. Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but sorry, no children under 12.
Haven Hall is privately owned and family run, (by David and Arielle Barratt) so you will usually get a chance to meet the owners, as well as Maizie, the resident labradoodle. You will be welcomed and accommodated into this charming, recently renovated seaside Country House. Each luxurious apartment holds different charm with period antiques, modern lighting features and glittering chandeliers. Kitchens are all new and well kitted out in every detail - with Nespresso coffee machines, microwave as well as hob and oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Choose the optional breakfast hamper to help you feel at home instantly. Bathrooms are ultra modern, all with bath/showers or walk in showers and marble topped washstand basins. The lovely crisp linen, thick plush towels and plenty of complementary toiletries will help you feel totally spoilt.
Haven Hall has 7 self catering holiday apartments with en-suite bedrooms, new kitchens, and living rooms furnished with Antique furniture, Smart TV and glittering chandeliers, all with air-conditioning and wifi. Some of the apartments have stunning views of the sea, others overlook charming flower gardens and fountains. Garden Suite 2 has its own private garden and is suitable for well-behaved, friendly dogs.
Facilities & Features
The recent multi million pound renovation of Haven Hall makes it feel brand new and fresh, even with its most appropriate classically elegant decor. The beautiful antiques add so much comfort and charm, you’ll feel instantly at home. Some original Arts & Crafts features survive, such as the beautiful log fireplace in the Drawing room (great on a chilly evening) the arched ceiling of the Billiard room with French lanterns and the lovely stained glass doors. What everyone enjoys most is the spacious, light and bright openness of the House, with spectacular sea views from every room, opening out onto a huge outdoor Patio, with a large trickling cherub fountain, spacious lawns and flower gardens in all directions. Unusual and spectacular circular steps, copied from an Edward Lutyens design, lead you from one area of the garden down to the huge croquet lawn overlooking the sea or to the heated swimming pool and grass tennis court. Palm trees wave in the breeze. Over in a hidden corner of the garden is also a cast iron fire pit, perfect for a campfire under the stars. Gated secure parking for 25 cars is free.
A sumptuous Breakfast can be enjoyed either in the sunny East Room with its wall of mirrors reflecting the stunning sea views, or outside on the Patio on warmer Summer days. Haven Hall sources fresh ingredients from local suppliers (organic when possible), with homemade jams, freshly baked croissants, fruit salads, natural yogurts, a variety of cheeses, cereals as well as updated ‘Full English’ breakfasts and special omelettes of the day.
Haven Hall also has a fully stocked bar available on request as well as kitchenette facilities within the luxurious Pool House changing rooms. Comfortable sun loungers can be enjoyed much of the year thanks to the sun trap within the walls of the heated pool area. Tennis and croquette are available, plus we are just a few steps away from the beautiful cliff path for stunning walks and jogging around the Island. Walk down the cliff stairs to the revetment and enjoy the under cliff walk as well as the lovely sandy beaches.
