Freshwater Bay golf course is one of the most spectacular courses in the UK. Set on the downlands overlooking the English Channel, this seaside links style course is 5,725 yards long, par 68 which provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities. The Railway is truly a journey back in time - a living, breathing museum! All of our carriages and most of our locomotives have spent much of their working lives here on the Island. They have all been painstakingly restored to pristine condition and are the hallmark of our delightful railway. The oldest locomotive was built in 1876 and carriages date back to 1864!

Ventnor Golf Course is the oldest course on the Isle of Wight and was founded in 1892. The course is in a very pleasant downland and cliff-top setting with probably the finest views on the Isle of Wight. It is unusual in that it is a twelve hole course. The overall length is some 5700 yards, SSS 68 par 70. We are a very friendly little club with some 270 members and Guests are made very welcome.The course is open for play between 7am and dusk. When competitions are taking place the course will generally close.

The Island itself is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club is also readily recognised for its natural beauty, spectacular views and challenging qualities. The 5th and 13th holes are two of the best you will enjoy anywhere in the South of England. Although not excessive in length, this beautiful heath land course is more difficult than its length implies. There are some strong slopes and gradients, with gorse, tree and shrub lined fairways making accurate driving and careful club selection essential for successful scores.

Osborne Golf Club is situated in the grounds of Osborne House on the sunny Isle of Wight just off the south coast of England. The club was formed in 1972 from Osborne House Golf Club which was itself established in 1904.The club is a 9 hole golf course, 6358 yards from the Championship tees (SSS70), 6129 yards from the normal play tees (SSS69) and 5758 yards from the ladies tees (SSS72). It is a parkland course with several woods and copses with views out over the Solent. The greens are watered but are firm in the summer.
Needles Old Battery  01983 754772
There are a number of different ways to travel to the Needles Batteries, some requiring more effort than others! Unfortunately there is not any provision for car parking at The Needles Battery, except for disabled visitors, who need to make prior arrangements by telephoning the Battery on 01983 754772. For the less active visitor there is an open top bus service that runs on a circular trip that takes in Yarmouth, Freshwater Bay, The Needles Pleasure Park, The Needles Battery and returns to Yarmouth via The Needles Pleasure Park, Totland and Fort Victoria. This is a half-hourly service and the ticket gives the opportunity to stop off and visit places en-route and rejoin the trip later. There are two bus stops at the Battery, one on Highdown, where the service terminates, and another at the entrance road to the Old Battery. Dismount at High Down to see the remains of the New Battery, the rocket testing display, the National Trust visitor point and snackbar, the Needles viewpoint. An all down hill walk from High Down brings you to the Old Battery or alternatively you can rejoin the bus service for the trip down the hill.
