Welcome to Shanklin Theatre
Shanklin Theatre is one of those extraordinary success stories which makes a whole community proud. Their rise to arguably the best entertainment venue on the Island continues in 2015 with an extensive and varied programme of events. It’s impossible to name everyone here but a little taster of future shows include music by Lee Mead, Leo Sayer, Lesley Garrett and Russell Watson and comedy from Jethro, Joe Pasquale, Jasper Carrott and Ed Byrne to name just a few. A full what’s on guide is available HERE complete with online booking.
Shanklin Theatre remains open throughout the year where it hosts events ranging from a Christmas Pantomime, a professional summer season, local amateur dramatics, a children’s stage school, the Isle of Wight Dance Festival and workshops for visiting school parties.
Shanklin Theatre and Community Trust was formally set up to save the fabric of Shanklin Theatre initially from the threat of demolition, and then from the ravages of years of neglect.
“To preserve for the benefit of the people of Shanklin and the whole of the Isle of Wight, and of the Nation, the historical building known as Shanklin Theatre and any other buildings or artefacts that define the character of the area (including any structure or erection, and any part of a building as so defined) of particular beauty or historical, architectural or constructional interest”.
The Trust now owns Shanklin Theatre and also owns Shanklin Theatre Limited, the company that operates it on a day to day basis. Please visit the Trust website here:
